UJ Launches New NSFAS Funding Status Checker for Students & Accommodation Providers
The University of Johannesburg has introduced a helpful new online tool that allows both students and accommodation providers to quickly check whether a student appears on the latest NSFAS funded list.
This new feature makes it easier for students to confirm their funding status and assists accommodation providers with verifying funded students more efficiently during the accommodation and registration process.
What Is the UJ NSFAS Checker?
The new UJ NSFAS Checker is an online verification tool that helps users determine whether a student appears on the latest funded list provided through the NSFAS and UJ funding process.
Students can now quickly check their funding progress without needing to wait for manual confirmations or long communication delays.
Who Can Use the Checker?
The tool is useful for:
- Current UJ students
- First-year students
- Returning NSFAS-funded students
- Student accommodation providers
- Parents and guardians assisting students
Why This Is Important
Funding verification is one of the biggest concerns during registration and accommodation placement periods. The new checker helps:
- Reduce uncertainty for students
- Speed up accommodation confirmations
- Identify students with funding issues early
- Assist with NSFAS-related follow ups
- Improve communication between students and accommodation providers
At Jezreel Student Accommodation, we have already started assisting our students by checking funding statuses and identifying possible issues such as:

- Outstanding funding verification requirements
- Defunded statuses
