From a hobby to a family business.
What started as a hobby more than 26 years ago, when UJ was still known as RAU, has grown into the Jezreel Student Accommodation family we know today.

26+ years later
Jezreel Student Accommodation, part of Jezreel Group Holdings, manages 1,248 student beds across 22 residences on behalf of property owners and service providers around the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and Wits: 1,095 beds in 10 high-rise buildings and 153 beds in 12 smaller communes. The business began more than 26 years ago, when UJ was still RAU, and it is still family-run today, led by founder Anet Du Preez and Managing Director Ruan Du Preez.
However much we've grown, the principle behind the business stays personal. Every bed represents a student looking for a place to call home. Every property represents an owner who has trusted us with an important asset. And every property we manage becomes part of the wider Jezreel family.

Our journey
A small venture into student accommodation begins.
The RAU years
Jezreel converts its first student accommodation property, back when UJ was still RAU.
Growing together
More properties, students and owners join the journey, turning a hobby into a growing family business.
Today
Jezreel manages 1,248 beds across 22 residences, from 12 communes to 10 high-rise buildings, for property owners and service providers around UJ and Wits.
The next chapter
Taking 26+ years of experience, systems and technology to more universities, cities and provinces across South Africa.
More than accommodation
As Jezreel grew, so did our understanding of what it takes to run student accommodation well. It isn't only about the property. It's about finding students, filling beds, supporting students, maintaining properties, managing staff, administering payments, staying compliant, communicating with owners, and having the right systems behind everything.
Professionally managed accommodation where students feel safe, connected and at home.
Managing student properties for owners and service providers, from occupancy and placements to maintenance, compliance and day-to-day operations.
More than 26 years of operational experience, turned into technology designed specifically for student accommodation.
We didn't build software and then learn student accommodation. We managed student accommodation, then built the software.
Still a family business
Jezreel may have grown from one student accommodation venture to 1,248 beds across 22 residences, but we're proud the business is still family-driven. Anet Du Preez founded it, and Ruan Du Preez now leads it as Managing Director. That shapes how we work with our students, our team, our property owners and our service providers.

It's why we talk about the Jezreel family.
Students
We want our properties to feel like more than somewhere to sleep.
Owners
We want Jezreel to feel like more than another management company.
Our team
We want everyone to know the part they play contributes to something bigger.
Meet the team

Where we're going
Our roots are in Johannesburg and our experience was built around UJ and Wits, but our vision reaches further. We want to take the Jezreel approach to student accommodation into other university communities, cities and provinces across South Africa.
That means growing responsibly: building relationships with new property owners, expanding our portfolio, developing our team and continuing to invest in the technology behind our operations.
JezHub also lets us take more than 26 years of operational knowledge beyond the properties we manage ourselves, helping other providers improve the way they run student housing.
From one student centre to 1,248 beds, and we're still growing.
